Route 02 · Gyeongju and Andong
Golden Era Route
Gyeongju was the Silla capital for nearly a thousand years. Andong, a couple of hours north, holds the Confucian side of the same province. Eight stops between them.
Taken in the published order the route covers about 192 km, and its two furthest stops sit 117 km apart. Both are straight-line figures, so real driving is longer.
It passes through two towns: Gyeongju, Andong.
Dosanseowon and Bongjeongsa Temple appear on another route too, so each stamp fills a page on both.
The longest single hop is Wolseong Palace Site to Dosanseowon at 105 km. The shortest is Bulguksa Temple to Seokguram Grotto, 1.8 km apart.
Grouped so that nearby stops share a day, it works out at roughly two days of driving.
Six of the eight stops charge admission. The rest are free to enter, though some sit inside parks that charge separately.
On three of the eight stops the stamp sits in a museum or information centre rather than at the heritage site, which matters if you turn up outside opening hours.
