What the campaign says about it
The ancient tumuli in Songhak-dong, Goseong, are located near Mugisan Mountain, which is just north of Goseong-eup. It features seven tumuli created during the Gaya period. According to history, the nearby area was part of the ancient Sogaya kingdom in Goseong-gun. Each tomb has a burial mound made with multiple layers of flat soil stacked on top of each other using the rammed earth technique. Earthenware, gilt-bronze earrings, harnesses, gilt-bronze decorative large knives, tall bronze goblets, and glass beads were excavated from the Songhak-dong tumuli. The tombs are of the typical style that was popular between the late 5th century to the early 6th century CE in Sogaya. Archaeologists believe the Songhak-dong tumuli are a good example of royal tombs built by the people of Sogaya as they say the tombs belong to either the ruling class or the royal family of Sogaya. The Songhak-dong tumuli have been designated as a historic site by the Korean government.
