Planning the visit

Soesokkak River Pool in Seogwipo is stop 5 of 8 on the Mythic Landscape Route.

The stamp is not at the site itself but at the Soesokkak tourist information center (142, Soesokkak-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do), so check the opening hours of that building rather than the site.

The two closest stamp points are Columnar Joint Along the Jungmun and Daepo Coasts, 19 km away, and Geomunoreum Volcanic Cone in Seonheul-ri at 23 km. All three fit into one day.

What the campaign says about it

Soesokkak is a deep pond formed by fresh water from Hyodoncheon Stream flowing through Hahyo-dong in Seogwipo-si as it meets seawater. “Soeso” means “a pond in the shape of a cow lying down” and “kkak” means “end” in the Jeju dialect. Soesokkak River Pool, located at the very end of Hyodoncheon Stream, is considered one of Seogwipo's hidden gems. The strange rock formations in the valley formed when streams of lava hardened blend in with the lush forest, creating a spectacular landscape. Soesokkak River Pool has a walking trail, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll immersed in nature. Continue down the trail and you will reach Soesokkak Beach, famous for its black sand.
